One of the most popular family days out whilst on holiday is a visit to a theme or water park and visitors to Torrevieja will be pleased to know the city has 2 to choose from. There is a further water park located in the small town of Rojales which is about a 15 minute drive from Torrevieja city centre.
Aquopolis Water Park
The Aquopolis water park is located in the centre of Torrevieja on Avenida Delfina Viudes and is the largest leisure park in Southern Alicante. It has a wide range of attractions and thrilling rides for all the family. With over 15 rides and children’s activities, including Paradise, Speed, Kamikaze, Zigzag, Boomerang, Black hole, Rapids, Blue lagoon, Waves beach, Zip line, Mini park and Amazon river. Most rides have a height restriction but the park provides plenty of great things for the young ones to enjoy. There are supervised group activities in the kids playground or mini park and the adults can relax in the large gardens, jacuzzi and waterfall or the whole family can enjoy a round of crazy golf. There are lockers, sunbeds and floats that can be hired. The park also offers a great range of food, drinks and snacks, either from one of the 5 kiosks located throughout the park or in the restaurant/pizzaria. Many visitors to the park choose to bring a packed lunch as the park’s eateries are pretty expensive and when paying for a whole family the costs can be very high. There is a large car park on site with 1500 parking spaces. Park prices for 2016 are adults 24,95€ children 19,95€ and O.A.P’s 19,95€ there is a small reduced rate when booking online however look out for vouchers in many local shops etc. Kids under 90cm are free. The park is open from 3rd June to 1st September from 11.30am with various closing times depending on the month.
Located on Calle Rossini, just a short drive from Torrevieja city centre, the Flamingo Waterpark is a lot smaller than Aquopolis and geared mainly for kids, although it is also cheaper than Aquopolis. The park is open from June to September from 11am to 6pm daily and has a selection of rides, pools, children’s play areas, pretty gardens and a snack bar. There are sun loungers and parasols available and the park provides free parking. Personal food and drink is not permitted so either eat before you go or be prepared to pay park prices. Having said that, sun beds are free to use and entry to the park is reasonably priced. Adult single entry is 13€, senior citizens and children aged 4 – 12 is 11€, children under 4 years can enter for free. (prices as of 30/05/2016) From the city bus terminal, the bus to Torreta has its last stop right outside the park before making the journey back into the city. Torreta is route (linea) B and runs from 07:30 to 22:00 Monday to Sunday.
Quesada Aqua Park
Just a 10 minute drive from Torrevieja City centre is the refreshing Quesada Aqua Park. Situated between the towns of Quesada and Rojales, the water park is easily reached via the CV-905 dual carriageway. Set in 21,000m2 tropical gardens, the park offers various areas to relax, sunbathe or enjoy a picnic, although for safety reasons glass is strictly forbidden anywhere in the park. Additionally there is a bar/café, restaurant and raised decking area offering views over the water park. Other facilities include free parking, shop, first aid, change rooms, lockers, showers, deck chairs and sun parasols.
Quesada Aqua Park delights visitors of all ages with a selection of thrilling rides, swimming pools and a mini park for the younger kids. Magic Carpet has 4 slides for challenging races and for the fastest slide in the park, Kamikaze provides the ultimate thrill. All rides have various height restrictions, and some such as the Rio Yukatan rapids allow smaller children when accompanied by an adult. The park’s bar and restaurant areas have terrace seating and offer a selection of soft and alcoholic drinks, snack menu and more substantial meals such as paella.
Entry prices to the park as of 28/06/2016 are : Adult 14€, Senior (over 65) & Junior (under 11) 12€, Children under 4 years can enjoy the park for free. There is a charge for deck chairs in the swimming pool area and on the raised decking. The park is open from May 30th to September 8th from 11.00 daily. June and September closing is 18.00 and July and August 19.00
